Rifts is a Structure location in the Anomaly subcategory.Rifts are purple zones of corruption exclusive to Hard Mode. They randomly spawn across the map, filling a 'Corruption Meter' that triggers debilitating server-wide debuffs and must be temporarily cleared by destroying corrupted trees and creatures.

Prerequisites:
- •Hard Mode must be activated
Mechanics:
- •Each active Rift contributes to a server-wide 'Corruption Meter'.
- •When the Corruption Meter reaches certain thresholds, it randomly activates 3-4 severe, stacking debuffs for all players (e.g., No Passive Healing, Food Rot Spores).
- •Rifts cannot be permanently closed, but they can be temporarily deactivated for one day by clearing all corrupted elements (trees and creatures) in their vicinity.
- •Deactivating a Rift slows or reduces the fill rate of the Corruption Meter, but does not reverse its progress.
- •The status of the Corruption Meter, active Rifts, and current debuffs can be tracked using the Research Monitor.

General:A distinct purple-colored area of corruption. Trees within the rift grow purple roots, and animals develop mutated, 'terrifying' features.
