Tutorial/Guide
99 Nights in the Forest is a multiplayer survival game with light horror elements. Select your team size (1-5 players) in the lobby matchmaking box. You'll start in a small forest area - follow the tutorial and begin exploring.
- •Hunger: Kill animals for raw meat, cook by dropping on campfire
- •Alternative food: Plant and eat carrots, berries, and chilis
Head-Start Strategy
Getting ahead early helps you build multipliers faster and survive longer. Focus on these priorities for day 1:
Start Strategy
- â–¸Immediately start collecting wood when you spawn
- â–¸Use the guaranteed starting Coal to upgrade campfire to level 2-3
- â–¸Target: Campfire level 3-4 by end of day 1
Pelts & Hunting
- â–¸Priority: Get Bunny Foot for pelt trader access
- â–¸Safe timing: Night 1 or day 2 (deer is passive, wolves don't spawn night 1)
- â–¸Classes with weapons (Assassin) can hunt earlier
Scavenging
- â–¸Collect at least 1 scrap to upgrade crafting bench
- â–¸Priority craft: Regular bed (5 scrap, needs crafting bench level 2)
- â–¸Gather extra scrap for future upgrades
Missing Children
- â–¸Day 1 dino kid rescue: Only if you have spear or ranged weapon
Solo or Multiplayer?
Game difficulty scales based on initial player count and stays fixed throughout the game. Solo = easier events, 5 players = much harder events.
- •Difficulty locks at game start - doesn't change if players leave
- •Avoid public matches: If 4 teammates leave, you'll face 5-player difficulty alone
- •Best experience: Play solo or with trusted friends only
Managing Resources
Farming
- →Plant saplings close together to cut multiple trees at once
- →Strong axes and chainsaws are very efficient for tree cutting
- →Wooden chairs from buildings provide 5 wood each
Managing
- →Farmer class: Prioritize farm plots for food production
- →General use: Build fences for base protection
Storing
- →Best storage: Rain wood storage (protects from wet damage)
- →Alternative: Use shelves if you have Biofuel processor
