Mechanics

Mechanic 1

Acts as a vital line of defense at night, scaring off threats like the Deer.

Mechanic 2

Upgrading the Campfire expands the playable area and safe zone by unlocking new parts of the map.

Mechanic 3

Causes players to heal slowly, or faster if near the Campfire.

Mechanic 4

Constantly depletes fuel and must be kept lit at all times.

Mechanic 5

Can be used to cook food.

Mechanic 6

Provides light to nearby surroundings.

Mechanic 7

Protects players from blizzards.

Mechanic 8

Its level affects its resistance to rain and snow, with higher levels being less affected.

Mechanic 9

If the Campfire's fuel reaches 0, it goes out, removing the safe zone, disabling the map, and preventing access to the craftable Map.

Mechanic 10

When burned out at night (except Day 1), the 'hungry' Deer will only spawn.

Mechanic 11

If the Campfire goes out, player health regeneration stops.

Mechanic 12

Level progression happens when fuel (Logs, Coal, Fuel Canisters, Biofuel) is added.

Mechanic 13

Each level requires more materials to complete.

Mechanic 14

The weather (Rainy, Rain and Thunder, Snow, Blizzard) can quickly deplete the fire.

Mechanic 15

When an entity (aside from Cultists) is led to the Campfire, they automatically stop at the edge of its marked radius unless attacked inside.

Trivia

Fact 1

There are 6 Campfire levels, with badges earned upon completing the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th levels.

Fact 2

The final (Level 6) Campfire reveals the entire map, is the longest-lasting, and is least affected by rain, though it still requires substantial fuel.

Fact 3

Rainy weather drastically increases fire burnout rate and causes chopped trees to drop wet logs (which can be dried or made into biofuel). Rain can only occur after 5 game days.

Fact 4

Rain and thunder is a rare weather type, similar to rainy, but with occasional lightning strikes that can damage players; crafting a lightning rod is recommended. Thunder can only occur after 10 game days.

Fact 5

Snow increases the burnout rate the same amount as rain.

Fact 6

Blizzards are the rarest weather type, slowing players, lowering temperature, increasing burnout, and moving players due to strong winds; they become more frequent over time.

Fact 7

After Level 4, it is recommended to use Coal or Fuel Canisters for fuel instead of logs, as logs have a small effect on the campfire (less than 1% per log) and can be used for crafting.

Fact 8

If the campfire goes out at night, it's recommended to AFK in a cabin on a shelf until the next day to avoid the hungry deer, then collect fuel to relight it.

Fact 9

Building an Oil Drill is essential for fueling the Campfire up to Level 6, or if fuel is difficult to find.

Fact 10

If the campfire goes out, a message alerts the player, and the map becomes unusable.

Fact 11

The campfire is one of the most important aspects of the game due to its role in revealing the map.

Fact 12

Being close to the fire heals you; standing on top of the fire provides quick health regeneration.

Fact 13

If the campfire goes out, unless it's day 1, hungry deer automatically spawn next to it (with some exceptions).

Fact 14

Two Wood Rain Storages built facing each other can create a simple AFK base to survive entities when the Campfire goes out (requires a hammer to exit, bringing stew for hunger is advised).
