Bat Cave is a Structure location in the Natural Feature subcategory.The Bat Cave is a high-difficulty, multi-stage dungeon located east of the campfire, significantly expanded in the Caves Part 2 update. Players must use explosives to navigate its deeper sub-regions, clear waves of powerful cultists, and choose from 8 powerful buffs to receive an end-game recipe tablet.

Prerequisites:

Mechanics:

  • Progression through the Bat Cave requires using explosives like Dynamite or Impact Grenades to destroy obstacles.
  • The Bat Cave is structured as a one-way dungeon; once the player leaves via the final exit, they cannot re-enter for the rest of that game session.
  • There are 8 'Blessing' rooms, each containing a statue that offers a choice between two permanent, stackable buffs for the current game session (e.g., Blessing of the Deer II, Blessing of the Bat II).
  • Clearing waves of enemies is required to unlock the Dungeon Gates leading to the Blessing rooms.
  • The final reward, the 'Ammo Crate Recipe Tablet', allows players to craft an upgraded ammo crate at a Level 4 workbench.

Appearance:

Main cave entrance:The initial area of the Bat Cave is patrolled by Bats and features crystals on the walls that can be illuminated with a flashlight to reveal lore.
Mineshafts:Deeper, branching paths within the cave that are blocked by iron gates or large boulders, requiring explosives to clear.
Dungeon gates:Rooms found deep within the mineshafts that contain large statues for the Blessing mechanic.
Final area:The deepest and most difficult section of the Bat Cave, culminating in a final Blessing statue and an exit ladder. A path is boarded up, teasing a future update.
