Description

Woodsman's Axe is the Woodsman class's exclusive starter tool. It begins at axe Level 1, grows stronger as it fells trees, and doubles as the class's melee weapon because Woodsman cannot replace it with another axe.

Item Details & Mechanics

Mechanics:

Usage:
Each felled tree fills the axe's own level bar. Higher axe levels improve its chopping and melee performance; by axe Level 3 it can harvest big trees, and axe Level 4 can fell normal trees in one hit.
Separate progress tracks:
The axe's in-run level is separate from Woodsman's class level. Woodsman class levels unlock persistent perks, while the axe powers up again through tree cutting during gameplay.
Class restriction:
Woodsman cannot pick up other axes, so the Woodsman's Axe remains the class's axe instead of being replaced by a Strong Axe or Chainsaw.
Class perks:
At Woodsman Level 2, logs do not count toward the sack limit. At Woodsman Level 3, big trees can yield Giant Tree Saplings that Woodsman can plant; the sapling drop is not guaranteed.
Class upgrade requirements:
Woodsman Level 2 requires 250 trees cut and 50 enemy kills with the axe. Level 3 requires 500 trees cut and 100 enemy kills with the axe.

Usage Tips4 tips

Tip 1

Chop ordinary trees early so the axe is stronger before relying on it against enemies or big trees.

Tip 2

Use the axe for enemy kills as well as logging: Woodsman's class upgrades require both tree cuts and axe kills.

Tip 3

After unlocking Woodsman Level 3, harvest big trees for a chance at Giant Tree Saplings and plant them near camp to concentrate future wood gathering.

Tip 4

Do not plan a run around swapping to a stronger axe or Chainsaw; Woodsman is restricted to this axe.

Trivia2 facts

Fact 1

Woodsman is the only class introduced in the New Classes update with a starter tool.

Fact 2

The class card has three Woodsman levels, but the Woodsman's Axe has its own in-run level counter and can progress beyond axe Level 3.
